2014

“It’s the 30th of January!” That was the first thing my mind screamed at me when I woke up this morning!!! So I thought I better write a blog entry before the month ends. First things first, Happy New Year- hope the year is going well so far.

I have thought of the excuse to give as to why I haven’t written my first entry for 2014, the best I came up with is “I’ve been busy this month”. I have travelled out of the country, celebrated my 5th year wedding anniversary, and I’ve been busy with training for something I signed up for. You want to know more? Well I travelled to Canada, lovely country, but their money reminds me of monopoly money! BUT I had a fantastic time with my Canadian family, my lil cousins are all taller than me now (SMH), well except for Lloyd, which I supposed is expected- well for that reason he’s my fave Canadian (Here’s a picture of us together)

Ok, back to the main thing- someone asked me the other day if I make up stuff on my blog- the truth is I don’t- in fact I tend to downplay things and withhold facts so I don’t seem too weird- I’m so sorry I’m just one of those people who have fantastic stories to tell…

For example, I didn’t tell you about the time some guy stopped me outside my son’s nursery and started chatting me up; I looked at my wedding ring and the boy in the buggy I’m pushing and told him sorry not interested- he looked sad and asked and this is verbatim “how come every black woman I like is not available?” I know I should have walked off, but if you really knew me, you’ll know I stayed. I said to him “because you are asking the wrong women”; then he proceeded to tell me about his last relationship and how she broke up with him because ‘he wasn’t black enough’ he said “how can I act black, I mean I’m white!” (LMAO) I stood there for 10 minutes talking to this guy, I only decided to say bye when the conversation got weird- I mean I’ll listen to your sob story but please do not show me how big your tongue is (straight face)

Nor did I tell you about the time I saw a squirrel eating chips at the same spot in the Romford cemetery every time I went past on the bus (this went on for weeks) I was so sure it was a sign, I even asked my BBM friends if they thought it meant the world was ending.
LOL.  SMH.

Back to New Year talk, my resolution for the year is simply this: “stop being afraid of the unknown- stop giving excuses- seize the day- stop living in a hut when the deed to a palace is in my name”. What’s yours?  Once again Happy New Year, have a great year…
