All Holy books tell us to love our neighbours; religion
aside, it’s ethical and quite important for a society that its members feel
some love for each other.
So, exactly what is the extent of this universal principle
of loving my neighbour or perhaps to paraphrase, ensuring my neighbour comes to
no harm?
Why am I asking? Well....
Why am I asking? Well....
Is it my duty?
1.
To tell a random guy on the street: “Mate you
should have worn a boxers; your fly is undone”
2. Or
tell that beautiful girl who thinks she's the next super model- “Here you go darling- get that ‘thing’ out of
your nose”
3.
Also, is it ok to slap that irresponsible woman
who couldn’t be bothered to walk 3 more steps to the traffic lights to cross
with her toddler safely!
4.
Is it extended to helping that teenage boy pull
up his trousers and dragging him to Primark to buy a belt for him- (poor boy-
maybe his parent can't afford belts- they've spent all the money buying him an
Ipad)
5.
If I see a young drunk couple kissing on the bus
on a Friday night- can I give them a condom and say- “heh chlamydia is too common to risk it guys”
6. And,
is it ok to go tell that aunty wearing the darkest shade ever in church, “Aunty! Men in Black is not real- its ok,
remove it, no one is going to erase your memory”
I know you are still wondering why I’m asking these
important questions, well the other day I was walking to the bus stop- I met
about 5 people on the way to the bus stop, and no one thought to tell me that I
had eye-shadow only on my left eyelid!!!! (crying- covering my face- shaking my
head)
The point is surely someone should have told me!
Is that not what
loving your neighbour is all about!!?!!!
Ahh! Which bus stop is it so I can wait for you there whenever I can to tell if something is not right and compliment you for the things that right?
